SONG ANd performance based, MONTESSORI approach
While DPV does have 2 full production Live Concerts it puts on with it's students, we believe that performing starts in our lessons. That why most pick up an instrument in the first place. They either heard a song while driving in the car that inspired them, or saw someone playing at a concert/event that made them want to jam out! DPV Instructors use songs the student absolutely loves to teach them how to play the instrument. We also make sure that each student is learning what they want...how they want, or at least how they best learn while still having FUN! It's inherently Montessori by design.
10 Achievement Levels
Leveling up, weather your a kid or adult, is something everyone loves. DPV has 10 Achievement Level Workbooks. These workbooks are specific to the students instrument, the design of which has a proven track record for success!
Playing and Performing: Levels 1-5
These 5 levels are focused on how to play and perform on the instrument, without force feeding too much theory and reading. Something most get turned off by immediately. (That said, we are Montessori by design, so anyone who shows a propensity for this, or those involved in school band, can be confident that our instructors will 'feed that fire'.)
Understanding Music: Levels 6-9
When a student reaches these levels, they can already play to a dozen or more of their favorite songs. They love their instrument! Now we dig our heels in a bit more on theory, reading and understanding more about music. We don't stray from joy, however. Joy is always first.
Creating Music: Level 10
Now the student has developed what's necessary for every musician to write their own material. This level focus' on just that!
Martial art style rewards
10 Backstage Passes, colored like belts of martial arts, that go with each of our Achievement Level Workbooks. So when your a Level 1 student, you have your White VIP Pass. When your Level 10 your a Black VIP Pass with Red Stripe! Student's can proudly display this however they wish...or a custom made wooden wall display can be purchased through our office! (image coming soon)
incentive-based prize rewards
Students age 5-12 will play games in their lessons. Games designed to gather focus through a fun, engaging environment. These games are improvised by the instructor, earning points as they go. Points are exchanged for DPV Bucks, spendable at our DPV Rewards Shop online. Prizes for all ages!
Students age 13-18 can compete in our Practice Log Competition. This age group can log their hours of practice in their private student portal. This is done one of two ways. Manually, or using the convenient practice timer. Each month the leader wins $20 to spend at the DVP Rewards Shop online. Prizes for all ages!
IN-HOME CONCERTS
These are super intimate, low-maintenance concerts from the comfort of your home. Many students have never stepped on a stage, and the first time can be nerve-wrecking. These concerts give students, of any age, the experience of the stage without all the pressure. Students perform to an audience of their choosing...sometimes just playing a verse or a chorus from their favorite song, or maybe a longer 1 or 2 song show. Once they feel their first applause, they're hooked!
Live concerts!
These are full production concerts put on in a variety of venues local to the Nashville area. From outdoor festival style venues, to indoor with all the lights and ambiance of a popular music event. Some opt for student bands, some students have instructor backed bands and others prefer to play to a track that is minus their instrument, thus filling out that role. Live Concerts are a fave of our family audience!
Vacation days
Our students and families all need time off. It's not only good to take a break, but Vacations are a normal part of life for most. With DPV, lessons are weekly and you pay a monthly tuition to reserve that weekly spot. We make sure that you can take time off and keep the value of that monthly payment.
QUARTERLY evaluations
These are given 4 times/year with DPV and are designed to show students where they excel and where they need to focus some attention. Instructors thoughtfully fill out our DPV Evaluation form. Evals are done with the student during a lesson, and with parent where applicable. Instructors direct the eval at the student, and get the student engage in their own process. At DPV, we realize that every opportunity is a learning one, and this is one that helps our students understand that they are in control of their path to greatness!
Weekly progress updates
Weather your an adult student or a parent of one, you want to be well informed on progress and what's happening in each lesson. DPV Instructors give weekly updates through both email and a private portal. For parents, these notes include the lesson plan, what they did during the lesson, what progress or obstacles the instructor saw, as well as those little tidbits of info we don't usually get from our kids when they come home from school. Things like what an awesome day they had because of a compliment from a teacher. Or maybe that they had a rough day because of an interaction with a friend. Our owner made sure these types of weekly updates were top priority when setting up DPV Music Lessons!
