PERCUSSION LESSONS
Percussion lessons are designed to pair well with school band programs. Marching band, orchestra, symphonic, you name it. Lessons are fun, engaging and exciting and we'll make sure to integrate the needs that come from their specific school! With a Montessori approach, we'll customize the plan to fit each students goals. If the goal is school bands...that's where we'll focus. If the goal is learning hand drums...that's what we'll do. Mallet instruments? Absolutely!
Why choose DPV for PERCUSSION Lessons?
Joy! It's the single most important thing to our instructors and owner. Is the student full of joy in their lessons? If the answer is "yes", everything else falls in line. Progress, practice, longevity etc. Students in our percussion program are paired with instructors who also went through their own school band programs. Weather your a 5 year old getting an early start and exploring bongos, or a 6th grader just starting in school band, or a 60 year old who's always wanted to play the xylophone...we will customize the lesson plan to help you achieve your goals! Combine this all with our DPV Achievement Levels, incentive-based prize rewards, regular evaluations and bi-annual Live Concerts...and you've got the best lesson program in Middle Tennessee!
What Styles do you teach?
This instrument category is HUGE! What parents and adult students need to know is we will always teach the styles & instruments that will be found in school band programs, but at any given time, we may have instructors well versed in percussion of Latin America and Cuba, or maybe Africa, or India as examples. It really is dependant on who's instructing with us at the time you want lessons. Contact us to find out!
What are the qualificationS of your instructors?
At a minimum, instructors that teach percussion have to have extensive experience in school band. Like all others with DPV, every instructor goes through a rigorous interview process with our owner, Lael, as well as TBI/FBI background check. Most instructors come to us from prestigious schools like Berkley College of Music, Belmont University, Miami University or Musicians Institute. However, just because you went to a great school doesn't make you more qualified to teach an instrument. We work with the best of Nashville's working musicians who demonstrate exceptional skills on their instrument, good communication, have great character and who love kids!
